Thunderbolt poems and ballads
The most well-known ballad about bushranger Captain Thunderbolt, which was supposedly made up by Fred Ward himself, is as follows:
My name is Frederick Ward,
I'm a native of this isle.
I rob the rich to feed the poor,
and make the children smile.
